Rainier Triple Threat Teaser

Well, I know I've been absent from the blog for  a while, but I assure you I've been running.  I hope you have been too.  Here's a quick trailer I finally got finished from our Rainier Triple Threat adventure last summer.  More to come...

Rainier Triple Threat Trailer from Sam Thompson on Vimeo.
A quick teaser from the 2010 Rainier Triple Threat adventure; 100+ mile bike ride to Mt. Rainier, a summit climb of the iconic mountain, and a 90+ mile loop run around the mountain on the Wonderland Trail.  Stay tuned for a full recap video to come!

Nice! Supported I assume? (looked like you were riding pretty light, unless you fit it all in a camelback ;)).

Yep, definitely supported. We had wives/friends meet us for both transitions bike to climb and climb to run. Then Gavin's wife met us once out on the Wonderland Trail too and Brock's cousin met us in another spot. Would've been a whole different enchilada unsupported, and it was plenty tough the way we did it!

Hello Sam, that's really cool what you and your Triple Treat team did. I assume you caught a few ZZZ's in between and split your effort into 3rds (between the three disciplines) because 80 hours would be a mighty long time to stay awake. I was awake for about 40 hours on my latest thing and I was way-wired, but after finishin I was ready to sleep an hour later. Anyway, great stuff you guys! Great adventure. See where you and I were referenced in the same blog:

and you can also read about my adventure this year on Shuksan-Baker as well as recalling my Mt Rainier speed trip:

You can find more things, including a video via googling me). I'm glad to know I'm not alone doing these things. Oh, also, I think your movie trailer is a kick, and makes me think of doing something like that. That's bad-ass that you did Western States.

Hey Randall, thanks for checking in and good to hear from you! I read about your Baker-Shuksan adventure last week - congrats on a really fun journey! Yes, we definitely had to stop for a few zzz's during Triple Threat, but were basically going nonstop through everything. Just a short nap after the climb/pre-run, and a super short snooze somewhere just above the Cleaver.

Congrats again on a great adventure and maybe I'll bump into you sometime soon on a mountaintop!
